Silymarin has antioxidant properties, preventing toxic substances from penetrating liver cells and protecting hepatocytes from various forms of damage. It also exhibits anti-lipid peroxidative, antifibrotic, anti-inflammatory, membrane stabilizing, immunomodulatory, and liver-regenerating effects.
